Sam Lightner, Jr. was raised in Jackson, Wyoming. He has been fortunate enough to also live in southern Thailand, Banff, Alberta, and Moab, Utah, but Wyoming has always been "home." Traveling and living  in such diverse places has helped Sam greatly as a writer and a climber. Not only has it provided a plethora of settings to build stories and routes upon, but also given insight into diverse people and cultures.

Sam has established new climbing routes around the world. He was looking for a space where he could create his own climbing crag on his own land. He found that parcel of land located in the beautiful Wind River Canyon. In April of 2022, he and his wife, Liz, purchased the property. They had a home constructed and completed in April of 2024. While the construction of the home was underway, Sam was busy constructing multiple sport climbing routes, via ferratas, ziplines, and the trail system.

The vision is to share these cliffs with visiting climbers, through an online reservation and waiver system, beginning in May of 2026, in order to best manage any environmental impacts; while also allowing Wyoming Mountain Guides to guide climbs and the Wind River Via Ferrata during certain days and months of the year.

Please note: This is private property, mostly surrounded by Wind River Reservation. No unauthorized access is permitted on the east side of the highway. The riverside on the west side of the highway has walk-in only access by the public, without prior permission needed. However, the owners reserve the right to trespass any individuals at any time. Please read the posted signs before entering the riverside property. Tribal fishing permits are required to fish in the canyon. Hunting of any kind is NOT allowed.
